Postdoctoral Fellow at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory

Andrew Palmer
The main topic of my research is spatial metabolomics where I develop bioinformatics and image analysis approaches for localising small molecules within a sample. The core imaging technologies we use are imaging mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry which produce massive data-sets that require state-of-the-art algorithms to process. For more details see my research interests page
I am currently working at the European Molecualr Biology Laboratory

I am also working on the 3DMASSOMICS research project funded by European Commission in the EU FP7 HEALTH Programme. This project is looking at statistical modelling the variation seen in MALDI Mass Spectromety Imaging and developing methods for analysing very large spectral datasets.

My graduate studies were undertaken at the University of Birmingham under the supervision of Dr Josephine Bunch, Dr Iain Styles and Prof. Ela Claridge.
I obtained my BSc(hons) in Physics at the University of Birmingham then joined the Physical Sciences of Imaging in the Biomedical Sciences (PSIBS) doctoral training centre where I obtained a MSc(dist). .
